It is Monday. It is considered the start of a new work week and seems to be the time to begin this record. We begin our adventure about traveling to Kenya in Minneapolis. It is a picture perfect autumn day that has quietly pushed itself past noon. I was up early to attend to our splendid four-year-old roommate, who was ready to meet the day head on. This means I have cooked pancakes and Deb and I made the drop off at preschool before heading to a breakfast of our own at Victor’s CafĂ©. Breakfast is a lovely way to say farewell to folks.
Now, about those farewells… What I most would like to convey about moving away is how it makes one consider all those people who make up one’s community. In considering it, I believe that we have found ourselves amidst a fantastic group of people, of family and friends. It has been emotional to say our see ya laters and ‘till next times and a part of me feels a bit blue. Mostly, I feel joyous and thankful for the great people in our lives.
I will try to write often here. I will chose frequency over polish. This may lead to more posts and also, more sentence fragments, maybe even bullet points. As with most things that await us, we'll see how it goes.
Thoughts:
A prominent Kenyan, Wangari Maathai died this past weekend. (http://nyti.ms/rggKxN) I had recently read her autobiography and it seems she was a great positive force for her community and around the world.
A second instance showing what amazing things humans can do. A Kenyan named Patrick Makau set a new world record in Berlin. (http://n.pr/pNhhMz)
